Biography:

Matej Makoter Rožmarin is a Research and Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Law of the University of Maribor. As part of his doctoral studies, his research focuses on the issue of cross-border enforcement of authentic instruments.

During his studies, he participated as a team member in the European Law Moot Court Competition (ELMC), where his team qualified for the oral rounds of the competition, ranking among the top 48 teams in the EU. He also took part in the Amicus Curiae judicial internship programme at the District Court and the Administrative Court. In addition, he participated several times in the Slovenian national competition in civil substantive and civil procedural law, Študentska pravda, where he was twice a member of the winning team and once a member of the runner-up team.

Throughout all years of his studies at the Faculty of Law of the University of Maribor, he was elected President of the Student Council of his year. He served four terms as a member of the Senate of the Faculty of Law of the University of Maribor and two terms as Coordinator of Student Tutors at the Faculty of Law of the University of Maribor. Prior to that, he also worked for two years as a student tutor.

At the level of the University of Maribor, he was a member of the Senate of the University of Maribor and a member of the Student Council of the University of Maribor representing the Faculty of Law. He was also a member of the Ethics Committee of the University of Maribor, the Habilitation Committee of the University of Maribor, the Quality Assessment Committee of the University of Maribor, the Statutory Committee of the University of Maribor, the Student Appeals Committee of the University of Maribor, the Committee for the Awarding of Honorary Titles, Recognitions and Awards of the University of Maribor, and the Human Resources Committee of the Senate of the University of Maribor. He also served as President of the Committee for Student Interest Activities of the University of Maribor.

Before completing his master’s studies, he also undertook an Erasmus+ study exchange in Poland, at Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw. Throughout all years of his studies, he ranked among the top 5% of students in his generation and received numerous awards and recognitions for his work, including the Dean’s Recognition for achieving the highest grade point average in the undergraduate study programme, the Dean’s Recognition and Commendation for academic and extracurricular achievements in the master’s study programme, and the Charter of the University of Maribor for dedicated work and outstanding contribution to the development of extracurricular activities.

In 2026, he also received the Rector’s Award for the best academic performance in his generation at the Faculty of Law of the University of Maribor.
