Peter Rižnik
Peter Rižnik is an experienced international arbitration practitioner with a primary focus on arbitrator work, in particular in the Central Europe and CEE regions. He is based in Vienna, Austria where he runs his independent arbitrator practice. He is a proud alumnus of the Faculty of Law at the University of Maribor.
Peter has extensive experience serving as counsel, arbitrator and tribunal secretary in commercial and investment arbitrations. He has worked on cases conducted under the rules of the International Court of Arbitration at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC), Arbitration Institute at the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), Ljubljana Arbitration Centre (LAC), Finnish Arbitration Institute (FAI) and in ad-hoc arbitrations under UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.
He is a member of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and one of the founders and a member of the Board of the Arbitration Association of Central and Eastern Europe (ArbCEE). He further serves as Vice-President of the alumni association of the Willem C Vis Moot – the Moot Alumni Association (MAA) – and sits on the European Regional Committee of the Campaign for Greener Arbitrations (CGA). Peter is also a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR and its task force on combating corruption. He regularly speaks and lectures on the topic of international arbitration throughout Europe.
In the past, Peter was active in private practice as counsel, as a full-time tribunal secretary, worked with the Ljubljana Arbitration Centre (LAC) and with UN-organizations, including in the fields of international commercial law and the law of outer space.
Peter has regularly been listed by Who's Who Legal as one of the most highly regarded arbitration practitioners in Austria and the region of EMEA, most recently as a global elite thought leader.
