Assist. Živa Šuta, mag. prav. is a Junior Researcher and Academic Assistant at the Faculty of Law, University of Maribor, where she is conducting PhD research on product-service systems in EU internal market law. Her research interests include the legal transition to the green and digital era, fundamental rights, the internal market, and public international law and she teaches EU law tutorials as part of her teaching activities. She spent part of her PhD studies on a research visit at the Faculty of Law in Copenhagen (Det Juridiske Fakultet Københavns Universitet), where she researched the development of EU internal market law under the supervision of prof. dr. Ulla Neergaard.
During her studies she participated as a competitor and coach in several moot court competitions (Philip C. Jessup, Foreign Direct Investment Moot, European Law Moot Court Competition) and Amicus Curiae project at the Administrative Court, and also volunteered as a student tutor and volunteer advisor in the Law for All Association (Pravo za vse). Before completing her Master's degree, she participated in an Erasmus+ exchange programme at Ghent University (Faculteit Recht en Criminologie Gent) in Belgium. Throughout her studies, she was ranked among the top 5% of students in her generation and received numerous awards and recognitions (Dean's Award for the Best Student in her Generation, two Perlach Awards from the University of Maribor for achievements in research and student competitions, two awards from the Municipality of Ptuj for the Best Student at Bachelor's and Master's studies, and the Award for the Best Student of the University of Maribor 2021/22).
